FAQs

Who runs the exercise groups?

Our classes are led by qualified Physiotherapists and Accredited Exercise Physiologists who specialise in senior health and fitness. We know the importance of balancing exercise that will benefit you without increasing the pain or symptoms you may have from other injuries or medical conditions you might be managing, making Activate Physiotherapy the perfect place for you to exercise safely and effectively.

Do I need a referral to join?

No, referral is needed. You can join directly! However, if you have a care plan or would like to claim through Medicare or under the Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA), a referral might help — and we can guide you through the process.

I have health conditions (like arthritis, osteoporosis, heart issues) — is this class suitable for me?

Absolutely. Our classes are designed specifically for seniors, with exercises that are safe, tailored, and can be modified for individual health conditions. Before commencing exercise we perform an assessment so we can determine any restrictions you might need to keep you exercising safely while improving the management of your health condition/s.

What kind of exercises do we do in the class?

During our exercise classes, you will focus on improving strength, balance, flexibility, mobility, and overall fitness — all tailored to what you need most to keep you strong and healthy for independence and quality of life. To perform your exercises you will utilise a combination of Pilates, cardio, traditional strength training (free and cable weights) as well as body weight and functional exercise equipment in our groups.

How big are the classes?

We keep our groups small to ensure personal attention and a supportive, social environment. There are only ever a maximum of 8people allowed in a group.

I'm worried about keeping up — what if I'm not very fit?

No problem! Our team meets you where you're at. Whilst you're exercising in a group, everyone is working on their own program at their own pace. Every exercise can be modified to match your ability and comfort level. This is where our team of clinical exercise specialists really excel, being able to tailor exercises to deliver the targeted benefits you need, ensuring your condition is never exacerbated and you work at a level that isn't too strenuous for you.

What should I wear and bring?

Wear comfortable clothes and supportive shoes. If you like to wear any supportive braces when you are active it would be a good idea to wear or bring them along with you. Bring a water bottle and a towel as well as any medication you might require — we provide all other equipment you’ll need.

Can I use my private health insurance?

Yes! If you have extras cover for physiotherapy or exercise physiology, you may be eligible for a rebate. We can assist you with checking your coverage or providing you with item numbers to check with a representative from your fund.

How often should I attend classes?

Most members attend once or twice a week for the best results — but we can help you find a routine that suits your goals and schedule.

How do I get started?

It’s easy! Simply fill in the form or give us a call to arrange your first session for an initial assessment. We can't wait to see you!

Do I need to be a certain age or have a medical condition to participate?

No. While our classes are designed with older adults and common health conditions in mind, we welcome anyone who wants to exercise in a safe, supportive environment. All sessions are supervised by highly qualified Physiotherapists and Exercise Physiologists who tailor the program to your individual needs. So if you need a little more support than you'd get in the gym you're in the right place!

How much does it cost?

Prices start from $20 before rebates apply.

Classes are billed as Physiotherapy or Exercise Physiology sessions, which means most people with private health insurance can claim a rebate. If you're eligible for a referral under a Medicare program or the Department of Veterans Affairs, your attendance costs may be fully covered at no cost to you. We’ll explain all fees clearly before your first session—no surprises.

About Us

OUR STORY

Like many teenagers I grew up wanting to represent my country and become a Wallaby. Countless injuries kept me off the field as I watched this dream slowly fade away. At the time the so called ‘expert’ health professionals prescribed me a mix of rest, medication and wait and see advice. Even as a kid I was let down and disappointed by the whole experience as I was left wondering – what’s the point?

Luckily for me me I received some sound advice from a supportive family member: “Use the disappointment you suffered to make a difference”

It took a while to sink in but I realised they were right.

It has not been an easy journey being the first of my family to go on to university and complete a double degree in Physiotherapy and Exercise Science and then taking on the challenge to establish my own practice. But as we know nothing good comes without struggle.

My goal of bringing the best pain and injury management to everyone has now been realised. I now have 2 practices at Tingalpa and Stafford with some amazing like-minded physios offering the best care for pain and injuries to everyone.

WHY ACTIVATE PHYSIOTHERAPY

At Activate Physiotherapy, we believe that quality care makes all the difference. Our experienced team of physiotherapists doesn’t just treat your symptoms—we take the time to understand the root cause of your pain or injury, so we can help you get lasting results. Unlike cheaper alternatives such as quick-fix massage chains, gym-based personal trainers or generic online programs, we offer evidence-based, hands-on treatment and personalised rehabilitation plans tailored specifically to you. This means you’re not just getting a temporary band-aid solution—you’re investing in long-term health, mobility, and a better quality of life.

We understand how frustrating it is to waste time and money on treatments that don’t work or only provide short-term relief. That’s why we focus on proven physiotherapy methods that not only alleviate pain but also help prevent it from coming back. Whether you’re recovering from injury, managing a chronic condition, or aiming to perform at your best, our team at Activate Physiotherapy is committed to helping you move better, feel stronger, and get back to doing what you love—without shortcuts.
